Perhaps the only band from Hamburg that was founded in the 90s that has managed to get by without embarrassing poses and intellectual contortions. Maybe because Die Sterne have never taken each other as seriously as other so-called discourse pop representatives. Perhaps because the musical always has something pleasurable with them that goes well with the pointed texts. Singer and author Frank Spilker picks up socially critical issues as he passes by, as can be seen once again on the current album “Die Sterne” (2020). How to defuse prosperity neuroses and the need to optimize to funk rhythms and rotten folk pop - that is the slacker attitude at its best.
